Activities for Couples who are Snowed in

Remember how exciting it was to hear the announcement of a snow day (e.g. a day day off from school) when you were a child? What happened to that thrill once the school years ended? There is no reason that you can’t have it during adulthood, especially if you are one half of a couple. There is still something magical about a snow day, but in order to experience it, you have to be able to let go of the stress and worry about what you aren’t getting done and just relax. There are so many things that a couple can do when they are snowed in. Here are some ideas to get you started.

*Most people love those typically summer goodies, S’mores, but don’t get any once the camping season has come to a close. These can be easily made at home over your fireplace or even the stove burners if you don’t have a fireplace. All it takes is a chocolate bar, graham crackers and marshmallows. Make sandwiches out of them and voila’! summer has come back on a snow day!

*My favorite snow day activity is to stay in bed catching up on a few movies that we haven’t gotten around to watching yet. I turn up the heat and snuggle in with all the essentials. You know, snack trays, a pot of hot chocolate, extra pillows, and remotes with good batteries. Basically, all I want to move for is a potty break between feature films!

*And heck, while we’re there, we usually get a bit of romance in. Trading massages with warm oils is a wonderful way to say “I love you” and might or might not lead to more. It is all up to us, because it’s a snow day and there are no rules on snow days!

*Board games are another of the activities that work days rarely leave time or energy for. There are some, like Monopoly, that can take a long time, but you have it when you’re snowed in. Although we’re competing, we’re competing together and the spirit of the game is fun and happy.

*If you get tired of being indoors, go outside. Build a snowman or a snow fort. Make snow angels. Take a walk and look at the amazing beauty of a snow-covered crystal world. Everything looks new and fresh, without a taint of imperfection.

Snow days are wonderful days for couples to share and treasure together. They only come once in a while, so make the most of it with some of the above activities. When the snow has melted and life has resumed at its normal pace, you’ll have the memories made while snowed in to continue warming your heart.
